Honoring Those Who Have Served

At Northwood University, freedom is an essential thread in the fabric of our institution. The individual freedoms and responsibility woven into the Northwood Idea and our code of ethics are at the core of our free-enterprise foundation. So, it’s no surprise that a holiday like Memorial Day makes the Northwood community take pause.

I encourage our Northwood family to honor Memorial Day by taking the time to reflect upon the selfless service of American military men and women who have lost their lives in service. Over the course of our nation’s history, members of the armed services have protected our country, our people, and millions more around the world who do not share the liberties of our great nation. This weekend, we are reminded to be thankful every day for the opportunities afforded to us as Americans, and of the safety and security paid for many times over by the one percent who serve.

As we honor Memorial Day in our hearts, let us also celebrate the accomplishments we are able to have because our nation is free. Here on Northwood’s campus, we celebrate the recent success of the Northwood University baseball team’s historic season. Congratulations to our coaches, players and families on a tremendous record-breaking year! We look forward to celebrating many more Northwood successes in the years to come.

Have a great holiday weekend!
