Collaboration and Community

Henry Ford once said “coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” This week, I can’t help to think of this quote as Northwood University celebrates the numerous partnerships that help make us successful.

This past Tuesday, the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Northwood with the Large Business of the Year Award. We are honored to be listed among some of this community’s longest-standing organizations, and grateful to be members of such a supportive Chamber. As an all-business university, having the support and collaboration of the many local businesses—from start-ups to century-old companies like Dow—helps us thrive here.

Last night this spirit of working together was strong as we invited all of the community partners far and wide who help us to make our Go M.A.D. Day of Service a reality. This past year Northwood partnered with 36 different community groups and organizations to clock more than 2,100 hours of service. We were thrilled to be recognized for this service with the NCAA Division II Award of Excellence, but being able to share that honor with our partners last night was a special opportunity!

Working together and making a difference form the basis of our presence in this community, and we are grateful for the many partners and collaborators who help us make that happen.

Have a great weekend!
