A Legacy Lives On

You could say Robert and Patricia Naegele truly loved Northwood University. This week, their contributions came to mind as I prepared my message.

Storied names in Northwood’s history, Naegele’s were instrumental in changing the lives of countless students. When they first welcomed international students into their home here in the Midland community many years ago, they started a legacy of helping students and supporting campus initiatives which still lives on today.

Tomorrow, we welcome to campus the 2018-19 finalists for the Naegele Competitive Scholarship. This annual freshman scholarship, started last year, is meant to bring students who believe in the American Dream and the benefits of a global free-enterprise society to our campus. It helps us find the students who have a philosophy aligned with that of Northwood, and we are excited to hear from those prospective students as they make their presentations and vie for a piece of the Naegele legacy.

Through the Naegele Competitive Scholarship, the Naegele Scholarship Program and numerous other efforts, their generosity has helped us share our values as an institution. The Naegele’s surely could never have imagined the incredible impact they would have on so many lives, or how many of those lives would forever be changed by an education at Northwood University. Now that is love!

Have a great weekend,

Keith
