Fresh coconuts and sugarcane
Straight off the plane we traveled to the first of 3 Mayan ruins, Altun Ha. After our hike around the temples we decided to get some refreshing fresh coconut from a local vendor.
The High Temple of Lamani
The second day we went to see the Mayan ruins at Lamani. To get there we had to take a boat through the New River. On the way we got to see a few interesting sites and even got to feed a spider monkey.
Carrie, Cristin and Will at the Inland Blue Hole
On our way from San Ignacio to Placencia we stopped to see in the Inland Blue Hole.
Nate at the Inland Blue Hole
Unfortunately it wasn’t its usual blue color due to all the rain but it was still an amazingly beautiful site to see.
Our last few days were spent in Placencia, a beautiful beach city.
Meeting Mr. Gegg the owner of Discovery tours
One of the big themes of our trip was Eco-tourism and while in Belize City we got to meet the owner of a company who provides a lot of different activities that are friendly to the environment.
