“The Forty”- The Whiting Forest Cafe, Build-a-Business Competition
On Monday our students competed in the first round of the Whiting Forest Café Build-a-Business Competition. This competition was open to any student currently enrolled at Northwood University and in-good standing. Students are competing for $5000.
Those who wished to compete, were required to attend 5 coaching sessions. These coaching sessions consisted of learning the history of The Whiting Forest and the inspiration for the Canopy Walk. Special Guest: Mr. Kyle Bagnall provided information that was vitally important to understanding the mission and purpose of the project.
During the preliminary round, that was closed to the public, the students had 5-minutes to present their business plan to a panel of Northwood faculty and staff. From the preliminary round, 5 finalist were chosen to continue with the Build-a-Business competition.
The Top 5 from the preliminary round, will compete Wednesday, November 29th from 6PM-8PM in Doan Lecture Hall (NU Admissions Building- Historical Building). Within this final round, each student will have 15 minutes to present their business plan, students can also provide a written business plan to support their presentation as well. These presentations will be recorded and provided to the judges to review. The winner of the competitionwill be revealed the week of December 11, 2017.
